Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Australia

Longitude 131°

Uluru views from bed, dune‑top sundowners and all‑inclusive guided forays—Longitude 131° turns the Red Centre into desert theatre with real comfort.

Longitude 131 degrees offers a distinctive stay in Uluru, Australia. Longitude 131 is one of Australia's defining luxury lodges, with the desert landscape and cultural interpretation forming the entire reason to stay.

Private Hideaway Escapes looks beyond the room itself. Transfer time, season, room configuration, activity programme and onward routing are considered together so the property earns its place in the itinerary rather than becoming another disconnected hotel stop.

Accommodation and atmosphere

16 tented pavilions with direct desert views. The most suitable category depends on the people travelling and how much time they intend to spend at the property. Privacy, outlook, outdoor space, family configuration and direct access to beach, forest or city can matter more than simply choosing the highest category.

Scale is equally important. An eight-villa island hotel creates a fundamentally different rhythm from a substantial city property. We therefore match the accommodation style to the journey and verify current configurations and inclusions for the actual travel dates.

Sixteen pavilions facing Australia’s Red Centre

Longitude 131 currently comprises 16 tented pavilions: 15 Luxury Tents plus the premium Dune Pavilion. Luxury Tents are around 63 sq m and frame Uluru through floor-to-ceiling glass, while the Dune Pavilion is the only accommodation with views towards both Uluru and Kata Tjuta.

The lodge welcomes children aged ten and over. Importantly for future planning, it is scheduled to close from 25 January to 19 April 2027 for a soft refurbishment, so those dates should not be treated as bookable.

Experiences and destination

Experiences can include guided Uluru and Kata Tjuta experiences, First Nations culture, dining, spa and stargazing. The precise mix depends on weather, season, local permissions and guest interests. Private Hideaway Escapes prioritises experiences that reveal the destination properly rather than filling every day with activities for their own sake.

That may mean a specialist naturalist, a private boat, an early cultural visit or simply choosing the right hour to be somewhere. Wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, sea conditions change, and mountain or rainforest weather can alter plans quickly, so flexibility is built into the itinerary where possible.

Dining, wellness and time at the property

Food and downtime need to suit the type of stay. At a remote lodge or private island, dining is integral because there may be nowhere else to eat; in a city, leaving the hotel can be part of experiencing the destination. Dietary requirements are communicated in advance, particularly where supplies have to travel significant distances.

Spas, pools, beaches, gardens and terraces also deserve actual time in the itinerary. Luxury travel is rarely improved by turning every available hour into an excursion. We aim for a rhythm in which the property itself can be enjoyed rather than functioning solely as somewhere to sleep.

Good to know

Rates, inclusions, transfer arrangements, opening periods and facilities can change. We confirm practical details for the proposed dates, including baggage limits, road, boat or air access, minimum ages, seasonal closures and advance reservations. This is particularly important for remote islands, safari properties, touring trains and lodges with restricted operating seasons.

Length of stay should reflect the effort required to get there. A central city hotel can work for one or two nights; a remote island, wilderness lodge or long-haul resort often deserves considerably longer. The overall route is planned so travel time produces a worthwhile experience rather than a collection of hurried stops.
