Nosy Komba, Madagascar

Tide + Tide Tsara Komba

Tide + Tide Tsara Komba is a polished, privacy-first base in Nosy Komba: design in stone and timber, service that lands lightly, and days tuned to light, weather and appetite....

Its position between tropical forest and the waters of the Nosy Be archipelago creates what Time + Tide describes as a forest-to-reef safari: guests can move from lemur habitat and village trails to coral reefs, kayaking and the beach within the same stay.

With only eight rooms and suites, Tsara Komba is much more intimate than a conventional island resort. The accommodation is set into the lush hillside above the sea, while the main lodge provides dining, lounge and outdoor relaxation areas. Natural materials and extensive planting keep the property closely tied to the island rather than separating guests from it.

Eight ocean-view rooms and suites

Tsara Komba has six Ocean View Rooms of approximately 90 square metres and two Ocean View Suites of approximately 120 square metres. The rooms can accommodate up to three guests, while the larger suites can take up to four, making the lodge suitable for couples as well as families. Children of all ages are currently welcomed.

Accommodation includes en-suite private bathrooms, private outdoor lounge areas and double or twin configurations. Fans and mosquito nets are provided in the bedrooms, and Wi-Fi is available, although the lodge deliberately encourages guests to engage with the setting rather than remain constantly connected.

Dining at L’Atelier des Saveurs

Meals are served at L’Atelier des Saveurs in the Divine House main lodge, with fresh local ingredients and Malagasy flavours central to the approach. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included within the lodge’s standard meal plan, together with tea, coffee and mineral water, while drinks and some additional dining arrangements are charged separately unless a different package has been booked.

The small number of guests keeps dining personal and relaxed. Rather than offering a large resort choice of restaurants, Tsara Komba focuses on a single strong culinary identity connected to the island and its produce.

From forest to reef

The range of experiences is the strongest reason to choose Tsara Komba. Guided forest walks can introduce guests to lemurs, chameleons and the extraordinary biodiversity of Madagascar, while the surrounding archipelago provides snorkelling, diving and boating opportunities. Kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding are included in current stays, making it easy to spend time on the water without committing to a full excursion.

Village visits bring a cultural dimension to the stay and are included in the current standard package. Further afield, excursions can explore the islands and marine habitats around Nosy Be, while scuba diving and fishing can be arranged at additional cost. The lodge’s Eden Garden contains more than 200 plant species and reinforces the sense that the property itself is part of the destination.

Families and private island time

Tsara Komba’s small scale makes it appealing to couples, but it is not an adults-only retreat. Children are welcome and the larger suites provide useful extra capacity. Some activities will naturally suit older children better than very young guests, so Private Hideaway Escapes can shape the programme around the ages and interests of the family rather than treating every stay identically.

There is also plenty of room to do very little. Private terraces, beach time and the tropical setting mean the lodge works equally well for travellers who want a few slow days after a more intensive mainland itinerary.

Good to know

Nosy Komba is reached by boat, with Time + Tide currently describing the transfer from the Nosy Be area as approximately 20 minutes once guests are on the water. Transfer arrangements depend on arrival point and can involve road and boat sectors. Boats do not operate at night, so flight timings need to be coordinated carefully.

Current rates include accommodation and meals plus selected activities, but beverages, transfers, diving, fishing, spa treatments and various excursions may be additional. Private Hideaway Escapes will confirm the exact inclusions applicable to the chosen dates rather than relying on a generic package description.

Why stay at Time + Tide Tsara Komba?

Tsara Komba is particularly strong for travellers who dislike choosing between wildlife and the coast. Forest, lemurs, local culture, reefs and island life all sit within one compact stay, while eight rooms keep the experience personal. Private Hideaway Escapes can use Tsara Komba as the coastal element of a wider Madagascar itinerary or as a longer standalone retreat for guests who want nature, water and privacy without a large-resort atmosphere.
