Cape Town, South Africa

Twelve Apostles

Twelve Apostles is a polished, privacy-first base in Cape Town: design in stone and timber, service that lands lightly, and days tuned to light, weather and appetite. Expect unhurried outings,...

Twelve Apostles offers a distinctive stay in Atlantic Seaboard, Cape Town, South Africa. The Twelve Apostles occupies an unusual position between Table Mountain National Park and the ocean, giving it the feel of a coastal retreat while remaining within easy reach of Cape Town.

Accommodation and character

70 individually designed rooms and suites with ocean, mountain or fynbos outlooks. Categories can vary substantially in privacy, outlook, size and family suitability, so the best choice is not automatically the most expensive. We select accommodation around the guests and the way they intend to use the property.

We also look beyond the bedroom. A private deck, pool, river view, central location or strong main lodge can materially change the hours between activities. Current room configurations and inclusions are checked against the actual travel dates before we recommend a particular category.

Seventy rooms between mountain and sea

The Twelve Apostles currently has 70 individually designed rooms and suites. Outlook is an important part of category selection: rooms can face the Atlantic, the Twelve Apostles range or surrounding fynbos, and many have private balconies or terraces. Sixteen interleading rooms provide useful flexibility for families.

The hotel sits on the coastal road beyond Camps Bay, making it less convenient for walking into the city than a Waterfront property but far stronger for guests seeking a retreat atmosphere. Spa, pools, sunset drinks and ocean-facing dining can make staying in feel as worthwhile as another day of sightseeing.

Experiences

Experiences can include Cape Town touring, spa, coastal walks, pools, dining and sunset time above the Atlantic. Season, weather, tides, wildlife movements and local schedules can alter what is possible, so we prefer to build flexible days around the strongest opportunities rather than fill every hour simply because an activity exists.

Wildlife encounters can never responsibly be guaranteed. Good guiding, enough time and an understanding of habitat are more valuable than a checklist. The same principle applies to island, cultural and city stays: a few well-chosen experiences generally reveal more than trying to cover everything.

Dining and downtime

Meals and unstructured time are part of the experience. Depending on the property, dining may move between a restaurant, terrace, beach, riverbank, bush setting or private deck. Dietary requirements should be advised before travel, especially at remote camps and islands where supplies require advance planning.

We deliberately leave breathing space. Watching wildlife from camp, swimming, using a spa, exploring independently or simply sitting with the view can be as memorable as another scheduled excursion and prevents a longer itinerary from becoming exhausting.

Good to know

Rates, inclusions, transfers, operating dates and activity schedules can change. We confirm the details for the requested dates, including baggage restrictions, road or boat transfer times, minimum ages, seasonal access and any permits or specialist arrangements required.

Length of stay should reflect the effort involved in reaching the property and the depth of the destination. A city stop may work in one or two nights; a remote safari camp, island or rural lodge often deserves three or more. We plan the overall rhythm so the journey remains varied without feeling rushed.
