Vahine Island Resort occupies a small private motu in the lagoon of Taha’a in French Polynesia, with views towards Bora Bora and neighbouring islands. The scale is intentionally tiny and the emphasis is on lagoon life, privacy and Polynesian materials rather than the extensive facilities of a large Bora Bora resort.

Accommodation

Accommodation includes beach and overwater bungalows, with timber, pandanus roofing and terraces facing the lagoon. The overwater bungalows are around 45 square metres and sleep two, with outdoor showers on their terraces. The collection now also includes Ari’i Vahine, a substantial private Royal Villa on an adjoining islet, with six suites, pool and capacity for up to 14 guests.

Dining, wellness and time at the property

Days revolve around the water: snorkelling, kayaking, lagoon excursions and boat trips are more important than formal resort programming. The small scale encourages relaxed meals and long periods on the beach or terrace, while Taha’a itself is known for vanilla plantations, pearl farms and a much quieter pace than Tahiti or Bora Bora.

Lagoon life

Taha’a is less about conventional sightseeing than water, small communities and agricultural traditions. Vanilla and pearl visits can be combined with lagoon time, while the motu setting means the most memorable hours are often the quiet ones immediately outside the bungalow.

How it fits into a Private Hideaway Escapes itinerary

Reaching Vahine requires an onward domestic flight and boat transfer, so we would normally stay at least four nights. It combines particularly well with Bora Bora or another Society Island for clients who want contrast between a famous resort destination and a more intimate private-island experience.
