Warders Hotel occupies a row of restored limestone cottages in the heart of Fremantle, originally associated with the warders of nearby Fremantle Prison. Thick stone walls, original timbers and compact cottage proportions are retained, then layered with contemporary furniture, local art and modern bathrooms. The result feels distinctly Fremantle rather than like a transplanted city hotel.
Accommodation
Rooms are divided between upper-level Terrace Rooms and ground-floor Terrace Cottages, with family cottage options adding kitchenettes and more flexible sleeping space. King beds, quality linen, complimentary chilled and sparkling water, local minibar products and a light breakfast with barista coffee are typical inclusions. Private terraces on the lower cottages connect directly with the life of Henderson Street.
Dining, wellness and time at the property
The location is the real facility: Fremantle Markets, the prison, harbour, museums, breweries and restaurants are all close by. Guests do not need a resort pool or large spa when the purpose of the stay is to walk the historic port city, eat locally and return to a small, characterful room.
Fremantle rather than Perth
Choosing Fremantle changes the emphasis of a city stay towards maritime history, markets, independent restaurants and a walkable neighbourhood. Central Perth remains reachable, but we would choose Warders specifically for clients who want the port city’s personality.
How it fits into a Private Hideaway Escapes itinerary
Warders works well for one or two nights at the beginning or end of a Western Australia itinerary, or longer for travellers who prefer Fremantle to central Perth. It can also precede Rottnest Island or a drive south towards Margaret River. The hotel is best understood as a boutique heritage base, not a full-service luxury resort.
