Sabi Sands adjoins Kruger National Park without fences between the two wilderness areas, allowing wildlife to move across a vast shared ecosystem. A long history of private conservation and guiding has made the reserve one of South Africa’s best-known luxury safari destinations.
Exceptional predator viewing
The reserve is particularly associated with leopard, although lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and many other species are also encountered. Experienced guides and trackers, together with carefully managed off-road viewing where appropriate, can create remarkably close but controlled wildlife experiences.
The private reserve difference
Game drives are restricted to reserve guests rather than general self-drive traffic, while small lodges create a more personal rhythm. Morning and afternoon drives are usually complemented by time at camp and, where offered, guided walks.
Choosing the right lodge
Sabi Sands contains several distinct properties and traversing arrangements, so location, style and guiding culture matter. Matching the lodge to the traveller is more important than simply choosing the most recognisable name.
