Vanua Levu is Fiji’s second-largest island and feels markedly less developed than Viti Levu. Savusavu on the southern coast is the principal visitor hub, surrounded by bays, rainforest and productive marine environments.
Sea and reef
Diving and snorkelling are major attractions, with access to reefs around the island and the wider north. Sailing, fishing and kayaking suit the deeply indented coastline and sheltered waters.
Fiji beyond the main resort belt
Vanua Levu suits travellers who value small-scale properties and a slower pace. Time here can be combined with nearby Taveuni or a private-island stay for a broader exploration of northern Fiji.
