The Zambezi is one of Africa’s defining rivers, and Zimbabwe’s riverfront landscapes combine broad water, riverine woodland and wildlife corridors with a powerful sense of place.
Life on the river
Boat trips and sunset cruises offer a different perspective from game drives, with hippo, crocodile, elephant and abundant birdlife associated with the river. Fishing and guided excursions can add further variety where appropriate.
Building a Zambezi journey
The river can form a natural thread through a Zimbabwe itinerary, linking Victoria Falls with wildlife areas further downstream. A riverfront stay balances beautifully with time in Hwange, Mana Pools or Lake Kariba.
