Selindi Camp

Selindi Camp is a polished, privacy-first base in Okavango: design in stone and timber, service that lands lightly, and days tuned to light, weather and appetite. Expect unhurried outings, long...

An exceptionally intimate camp in the private Selinda Reserve

Selinda Camp sits on the banks of the Selinda Spillway as it approaches the Linyanti River in northern Botswana. With only three guest suites, this is a very different proposition from a larger safari lodge: privacy, space and a close relationship with the surrounding reserve are central to the experience.

The camp’s design draws heavily on elephants and the landscape around it, combining original art, natural materials and expedition-inspired details without losing the feeling of being in a remote wilderness.

The camp

Selinda is part of the private Selinda Reserve, an area of permanent waterways and varied habitat that attracts wildlife throughout the year.

The main areas combine indoor and outdoor living, with art and photography playing an unusually prominent role. The camp is a Relais & Chateaux member and dining is treated as an important part of the stay rather than simply something fitted between safari activities.

Wellness treatments are available in the camp’s spa area or privately at the suites.

Accommodation

There are just three expansive guest suites.

Each has a large private veranda and its own swimming pool. Inside, the suites include generous en-suite bathrooms with deep brass baths, double vanities and indoor showers, along with heating and cooling above the bed.

Guests also have complimentary use of quality binoculars and a professional camera and lens kit, with photographs downloaded for them at the end of their stay.

For families or small groups requiring exclusive use, the separate two-bedroom Selinda Suite adds its own lounge, dining area and pool, together with a private safari vehicle, guide or host and chef.

Safari experiences

Open-vehicle game drives explore the Selinda Reserve in search of its varied wildlife. The reserve is known for elephants and predators, including lion and African wild dog.

Guided bush walks shift attention to tracks, plants and smaller details, while boating can be available on the permanent waterways.

Seasonal tag-and-release fishing is another possibility. Water-based activities remain dependent on conditions and water levels.

Dining and slower moments

Selinda’s small scale allows meals to feel personal, with the camp offering more involved dining experiences alongside traditional safari meals.

Time between activities can be spent at the private pool, on the suite’s veranda or with a massage overlooking the reserve.

Families

Children from six years old are accepted. Families seeking maximum privacy should consider the exclusive-use Selinda Suite, where the private vehicle and dedicated team allow the daily schedule to be tailored more closely.

Why we like it

Three suites changes the character of a safari camp. Selinda feels private before you have even considered taking the exclusive-use suite, and the combination of strong wildlife, permanent waterways, individual pools and unusually thoughtful design makes it particularly appealing for travellers who value both substance and seclusion.
