Denarau Island and Port Denarau, Fiji

Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa

Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa is currently closed for major redevelopment, with reopening dates, final accommodation and operating facilities to be confirmed before booking.

The Westin on Denarau has been closed for a major redevelopment, and Fiji government reporting in September 2026 described the project as an ongoing transformation into a 282-room luxury property. Older Marriott pages still carry outdated reopening language, so this property should not currently be treated as a normally operating resort without fresh confirmation.

Accommodation

Historically, the Westin occupied a beachfront position on Denarau with Fijian-inspired rooms, pools, spa and access to the wider resort infrastructure of the island. The redevelopment is substantial and began in 2023, meaning previous room descriptions, restaurants and facilities may not accurately represent the finished product. Government reporting indicates a major upgrade rather than a light refurbishment.

Dining, wellness and time at the property

Denarau itself remains one of Fiji’s most convenient resort areas, around 15 km from Nadi International Airport and close to Port Denarau for transfers into the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands. That makes the eventual Westin useful as either a short first stop or a full resort stay, particularly for families and golfers who value easy logistics.

Why the status matters

The redevelopment has moved through several projected timelines, and current September 2026 reporting still describes work in progress. A fresh operational check is essential.

How it fits into a Private Hideaway Escapes itinerary

Reopening, final room inventory and operating facilities before offering the Westin should be confirmed before booking. Until that position is clear, we would recommend an alternative operating Denarau or island resort rather than build an itinerary around uncertain availability.
