Ishasha

Ishasha is the remote southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for open fig-tree country, excellent game viewing and its famous tree-climbing lions.

Ishasha lies between the main areas of Queen Elizabeth National Park and the road south towards Bwindi. Open plains, woodland and fig trees create a quieter safari landscape than the park’s busier northern sectors.

Experiencing Ishasha

Game drives may reveal elephant, buffalo, topi and other plains wildlife, while lions are famously known to rest in large fig trees, although sightings are never guaranteed.

Planning your stay

Ishasha is particularly useful as an overnight safari stop between the Kazinga Channel area and gorilla trekking in Bwindi, turning a transfer into a destination.
