Uganda

Uganda offers deeply rewarding primate and wildlife journeys, from gorilla trekking in Bwindi's forests to chimpanzee encounters, savannah reserves, lakes and the landscapes surrounding the Nile.

Primate encounters and richly varied landscapes

Uganda is best known for gorilla trekking in Bwindi, but the country also offers chimpanzee tracking, savannah safari, lakes, wetlands and the Nile. That combination makes it particularly rewarding for travellers who want an active wildlife journey rather than a conventional game-drive-only safari.

Permits and logistics need to be planned carefully, especially for gorilla and chimpanzee experiences. Flying between key areas can save considerable road time, while adding parks such as Murchison Falls or the Ishasha sector gives the itinerary a broader wildlife dimension.

Where to explore in Uganda

Our current Uganda collection takes in Murchison Falls National Park, Lake Mburo, Kibale Forest National Park, Jinja, Ishasha and Bwindi Inpenetrable Forest. Each area has been selected because it adds something distinct to a tailor-made journey, whether that is wildlife, landscape, culture, food, coast or simply the chance to slow the pace.

Rather than treating these as a checklist, we can help decide which regions belong together and how long to spend in each. The aim is a journey that feels coherent, with sensible transfers and enough time to enjoy the properties and experiences along the way.

Who Uganda suits

Uganda works particularly well for primate enthusiasts, active travellers, repeat safari visitors and those who want wildlife experiences with a strong sense of participation. The detail can then be shaped around the people travelling – preferred pace, room or villa requirements, interests, celebrations and how much structure you want built into each day.
