Fiji’s Mamanuca and Yasawa groups stretch north-west from Viti Levu into clear Pacific water. The Mamanucas are closer and more developed, while the Yasawas extend into a more remote chain of high volcanic islands and secluded beaches.
Reefs, surf and island-hopping
Snorkelling, diving, sailing and kayaking are central across both groups. The Mamanucas include celebrated surf breaks, while the Yasawas reward travellers with longer journeys, striking landscapes and excellent island-hopping.
Choosing the right island
Individual islands vary enormously in atmosphere, size and level of development. Matching the resort or private island to the traveller matters more than choosing the group by reputation alone.
