A private home in the Mara rather than a conventional safari camp
Acacia and Mara Bush Houses offer a highly flexible way to experience the Greater Mara. Set in the Mara North Conservancy, the houses are designed for exclusive use, with their own staff, chef and private safari guide rather than shared camp schedules.
The properties are now associated with the Basecamp Mara Bush Houses collection, but the existing Private Hideaway Escapes title has been retained for continuity.
Acacia House
Acacia House is a relaxed bush home overlooking a wildlife area and waterhole. It has two principal bedrooms plus a smaller loft-style room that works particularly well for children. Open-plan living and dining spaces lead onto a broad veranda.
Mara House
Mara House is the larger of the pair, with three en-suite bedrooms and generous shared living areas. Both houses are fully staffed, allowing meals, safari departures and downtime to be organised around the guests rather than a fixed camp timetable.
Private safari
A dedicated vehicle and guide are central to the experience. Game drives can explore the Mara North Conservancy, where lower vehicle densities and private-conservancy rules allow a more flexible safari than inside the national reserve alone. Walking and night drives may also be possible within conservancy areas.
Families and groups
The houses are particularly strong for families, multi-generational groups and friends travelling together. Children can settle into a real home environment, meals can be adapted to the group and there is no pressure to match the schedule of other guests.
