Kicheche Bush Camp

Kicheche Bush Camp is a polished, privacy-first base in Masai Mara National Park: design in stone and timber, service that lands lightly, and days tuned to light, weather and appetite....

Small-scale safari in predator-rich Olare Motorogi

Kicheche Bush Camp, now presented by Kicheche as Kicheche Bush Olare, sits in the private Olare Motorogi Conservancy bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve. It is deliberately small, unfenced and low-impact, placing the focus firmly on guiding and wildlife rather than lodge facilities.

The camp

There are five standard tents and one family suite. Each has an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water, flushing toilet, solar power, charging points, Wi-Fi and a hammock outside. The open-sided lounge and dining tent looks across the plains.

Massages can be arranged in the privacy of the guest tents, and yoga mats are provided for quieter time between activities.

Olare Motorogi Conservancy

The approximately 35,000-acre conservancy is known for strong year-round predator viewing and low vehicle density. Because it is private conservancy land, guides have more flexibility than in the national reserve, including off-road positioning where appropriate and guided activities beyond standard daytime drives.

Safari activities

Game drives are complemented by guided bush walks, optional wild camping, community visits and hot-air ballooning. Guests can also spend long periods in the field with picnic meals rather than returning to camp between every activity.

Families

The family suite provides two-bedroom accommodation and includes exclusive use of a vehicle, giving families considerably more control over the pace of their safari. Kicheche’s current published minimum age is seven.

Why we like it

Kicheche Bush is about the safari rather than the hardware. A tiny camp, strong guides and a private conservancy create exactly the sort of immersive wildlife experience many experienced safari travellers are looking for.
